I’ve written about Passover a lot over the past decade and a half. From Jewish punk to vegan food, here are some highlights all in one place!

Last year I blogged about the Shondes’ Passover-themed video for “True North.” I wrote “Passover Punk Playlist” and “A Punk Playlist for Passover” for Jewcy in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The playlists include songs by Electric Menorah, the Gangsta Rabbi, Gefilte F*ck, G-d Is My Co-Pilot, Moshiach Oi!, NOFX, the Schleps, Schmekel, the Shondes, Total Passover, and Yidcore.

From 2005 to 2010, I ran heebnvegan, a Jewish-vegan blog. In 2006, I gave overviews of vegetarian seders across the country. In 2010, I wrote “The Ultimate Passover Guide for Vegetarians and Vegans.” I’ve referred people to this guide many times in the years since. While some of the details have changed (e.g., the Conservative movement now allows kitniyot), the main points are the same and are very helpful to vegetarian and vegans considering what to eat on Passover.

heebnvegan featured four guest posts with Passover recipes. Check out “Cooking Up a Vegan Passover” by Isa Chandra Moskowitz, “Vegan Passover Guide for Hungry Jews” by Jenny Goldberg, “Passover from a Living Foods Perspective” by Robin Silberman, and “Nut-Based Cuisine: The Definitive Source of Plant Protein on Passover” by Zel Allen.

Last but not least, here’s something that’s new to the internet this year! I recently participated in a storytelling event called “Jewish in Queens: Foods That Feel Like Home.” The video below captures my hilarious story about the time I made a staple Passover food, charoset, for a vegan cooking competition!
